The offer amount is the starting point. To see what it asks of your time and your car, add the km and minutes to the passenger and for the trip. The decision to accept is always yours.
What to check before accepting
- Offer amount: check how much the offer says you'll receive. That amount still has to cover car costs.
- To the pickup: count the km and minutes from where you are to the passenger. That part also uses time and your car.
- Trip: include the km and minutes from pickup to the destination. Add both parts, as in the article about the drive to the passenger.
- Amount per km and per hour: per km, divide the offer amount by total km. Per hour, divide the amount by total minutes and multiply by 60. Compare with your goals.
- Car cost and what is left: multiply your cost per km by total km. Subtract that cost from the offer amount to see what is left.
Per km and hourly amounts haven't had car costs subtracted yet. The hourly amount uses only the offer's minutes: it isn't your hourly amount for the workday and doesn't, by itself, include time between offers.
An example
An offer of €11.50, with 1.2 km and 4 minutes to pickup, followed by 13.5 km and 19 minutes for the trip. Use a cost of €0.14/km. All figures in this example are fictional, not an earnings forecast.
The route covers 1.2 + 13.5 = 14.7 km and takes 4 + 19 = 23 minutes.
| Calculation | Formula | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Amount per km | 11.50 ÷ 14.7 | €0.78/km |
| Amount per hour | 11.50 ÷ 23 × 60 | €30.00/h |
| Car cost | 14.7 × 0.14 | €2.06 |
| After car costs | 11.50 minus (14.7 × 0.14) | €9.44 |
Fictional example figures. Per km and hourly results haven't had car costs subtracted yet.
Before rounding, car cost is €2.058000 and what is left is €9.442000. Each result uses the unrounded value, with money rounded to six decimal places, then to two for display. What is left depends on the costs you included in €0.14/km.
Rating and destination
When the offer shows the passenger's rating, use it as one more piece of information for your decision. The rating alone doesn't guarantee how the trip will go.
If it shows the destination, check whether the arrival location fits your work and what you plan to do next. If you need to drive elsewhere afterwards, that distance also affects your day.
Use your own numbers
In Radr's earnings calculator, fill in “Offer amount”, “To the pickup” and “Trip”. Under “I know the cost”, use your cost per km without adding it again to other costs.
Use the calculations and available information to compare the offer with your goals. Accepting or passing is your decision.
